18.09.2012
In ancient times, the cross was an instrument of dishonorable death, reproach and suffering. Killing by crucifixion was perceived as the ultimate punishment. However, after the crucifixion of Christ, the cross became a symbol of salvation and eternal life for Christians. According to Saint Grigor Tatevatsi's interpretation, the cross also symbolizes the four virtues: love, humility, obedience and patience.
