The Feast of the Discovery of Holy Cross

On October 28, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Feast of the Discovery of the Holy Cross, one of the 4 liturgical feasts dedicated to the Holy Cross. On this occasion under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Divine Liturgy was offered. The celebrant was Rev. Father Vatche Mkrtchyan. According to Holy tradition, the Empress Helen of the Roman Empire, went to Jerusalem and discovered the Holy Cross in 326. Pieces of the relic of the Holy Cross were divided among the Christian Churches, one of which is kept by the Armenian Church in the Cathedral museum of the Mother See.
