The Army Chaplaincy Program of the Armenian Church

12.10.2011

The spiritual service in the Armed Forces of RA was initiated on 13 November 1997. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Defense Ministry of Armenia, in which the sphere, goals and objectives and structure of the chaplains' activities were specified and agreed upon. The Chaplains deliver lectures, hold meetings with soldiers, encourage soldiers before each military exercise and pray for them. They also visit border outposts, hold showings of educational films, celebrate Church services, perform sacraments, and organize pilgrimages, etc. The soldiers find spiritual renewal and learn the teachings of the Mother Church.
