The diocese was formed in memory of Vazgen A. By the Catholicos in 1983. Educational, charitable and cultural organizations operate in the diocese. There are S. Grigor Lusavorich, Varaga Surb Khach, St. Poghos-Petros, St. Gevorg and S. Resurrection churches.
