Sunrise Service in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On February 20, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Sunrise Service was offered under the presidency of HH Karekin II. It was previously a part of the morning service. It symbolizes Christ's Resurrection and appearance to His disciples. It is offered at sunrise and is identified with Christ's Resurrection. This service was established by Catholicos Ezr I (630-641) and in the 12th century it was enriched with hymns of St. Nerses Shnorhaly.
