On 04 September, the Commemoration of St. John the Baptist and Job the Righteous, the famous Gospel of Sangibaran will be brought to the Holy Shoghakat Monastery in Vagharshapat, from the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan. For centuries, the miraculous gospel was kept in the Armenian village of Sangibaran, in the Peria region of Iran. It is also called the Hovhannes Gospel, because it was stored in the St. Hovhannes Armenian Church of the village. The Gospel dates back to the XI-XII centuries. It was donated to Matenadaran during Armenian immigration from Iran in 1972.
