On 27 October, 2012, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Cathiolicos of All Armenians, presided over the Repose of Souls service in commemoration of the murdered military officer Lieutenant Gourgen Margaryan, who was killed in Hungary; and the State Officials of the Republic of Armenia National Parliament who died in the parliament shootings on 27 October, 1997
