Reliquary of Skevra Being Restored

Mr. Igor Malkiel, Head of the the Laboratory for Scientific Restoration of Precious Metals at the Hermitage Museum; is restoring the famous XIII century Reliquary of Skevra. The Reliquary of Skevra, created in 1293 by the order of Archbishop Constantine of Sis, contains the relics of 18 saints: St. Paul, St. Peter, St. Thaddeus, St. Bartholomew, St. Gregory the Illuminator, Saint John Chrysostom and others. The reliquary was donated to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin by the Hermitage Museum in 2000, during the visit of His Holiness Karekin II to the Armenian Diocese of New Nakhijevan and Russia for the consecration of the St. Katarine Armenian church of St. Petersburg.
