Pope Benedict XV and the Armenian Genocide

In 1915, Pope Benedict XV (1914 -1922) was the first Pope of Rome to condemn the Armenian Genocide. In His letter dated September 10, 1915 to Ottoman Sultan Mehmed V, the Pope condemns the Armenian Genocide and urges the Sultan to put an end to suffering of the Armenians. A copy of the letter is kept at the Armenian Genocide Museum-institute.
