Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

The Brotherhood of the Mother See prayed for an independent and free Armenia. The republican prayer is celebrated in Armenian churches twice a year since 1991, on May 28 and September 21. It was first held in 1991 shortly after the declaration of the Independence Referendum and has become an annual tradition under the Catholicosate. It is based on the prayer of the first republic, which was established by Catholicos Gevorg Surenyants more than 100 years ago.
