His Holiness Karekin II Receives Army Chaplains

On February 15, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received 46 chaplains serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. They were led by His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Armed Forces and Head Chaplain of the Armenian Army.

During the meeting His Grace Bishop Vrtanes presented to the Armenian Pontiff the completed projects and outlined the current challenges facing the spiritual service in the Army. It was mentioned that the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Chaplaincy program would be celebrated in the nearest future.

The Catholicos of All Armenians extended his message to those present. In his message His Holiness reflected on the important role of the chaplains, stressing that clergymen should always stand side-by-side with the Armenian soldier, reinforcing his patriotic and Christian-devoted spirit while infusing his life with Christian values "Through your service, tragic incidents and events should be eliminated. Spiritual courage plays a decisive role in victories and invincible actions of the army", the Pontiff of All Armenians stated in part.
