This year the period of Great Lent began on 16th of February and will end with the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ on April 4th, 2015. The period of Great Lent lasts for 48 days, which includes Holy Week. Great Lent symbolizes Christ's 40-day period of fasting and trials in the desert.
