Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On July 27 Armenian Church celebrated the feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ which is one of the five tabernacle feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It commemorates the “transfiguration” of Jesus that occurred while He was praying. The Feast also is known by the other name of “Vardavar”. It’s associated with an old Armenian tradition of pouring water on one another. Some sources attribute the tradition as a remnant of an Armenian pre-Christian celebration.
