Feast of St. Vartan the Captain and his 1036 Companions

The Feast of St. Ghevond the Priest and His Companions is dedicated to the blessed memory of the Armenian priests who fought alongside St. Vartan for their Christian faith in 451 A.D. in the Battle of Avarayr. This year the Feast of St. Ghevond the Priest and His Companions is celebrated on February 21. This day is also celebrated as the Naming Day of His Holiness Karekin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
