Episcopal Ordinations in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On Sunday, 06 November 2011, Episcopal ordinations for six new bishops of the Armenian Church was offered in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, during the celebration of a Pontifical Divine Liturgy in the Mother Cathedral. This was the largest Episcopal ordination held during the reign of His Holiness, and was held in conjunction with official events celebrating the 60th birthday of the Armenian Pontiff and the 12th anniversary of his consecration as Catholicos of All Armenians. The following clergy received their Episcopal rank: Very Reverend Father Haigazoun Najarian, Pontifical Legate of Central Europe and Sweden; Very Reverend Father Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Great Britain; Reverend Father Datev Hakobian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Romania; Reverend Father Gevork Saroyan, Dean of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See; Reverend Father Hovnan Hakobian, Grand Sacristan of the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin; and Reverend Father Mushegh Babayan, Director of Operations of the Mother See.
