Primate of Armenian Diocese of the UK Appeals to Prime Minister for Release of Armenian Prisoners

18.03.2025

His Eminence Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Great Britain and Ireland, has sent a letter to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, expressing grave concern over the unlawful detention of 23 Armenians by Azerbaijan.

The letter, co-signed by eight other Christian leaders, urges the Prime Minister to pressure Azerbaijan to release the Armenian prisoners who are unjustly detained on fabricated charges. It underscores the violation of international human rights laws, the denial of legal representation, and the expulsion of humanitarian organizations from Azerbaijan, leaving the detainees in complete isolation.
