The Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy of Kolkata was founded by the members of the Calcutta Armenian Community to educate Armenian children. The Armenian College has played a distinguished and important role in the preservation of Armenian culture throughout the world. For almost its entire history, the Armenian College has been the only institution in the East designed to educate Armenian children.
