Armenian Church of Batumi

06.09.2010

St. Amenaprkich, built in 1887, is the only church in Batumi. Like many Armenian churches this one has been through difficult times. During the Soviet regime the church was closed and used as a warehouse. In 1959 the church was converted to an observatory. In 1995 the Armenian community started renovating the church. The Church was re-opened in 2000 and now serves the 8000 Armenians of Batumi.
