His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has made an appeal to Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Grand Mufti of the Muslims of the Caucasus, to take measures to secure the release of Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan, and return him to Armenia. Private Injighulyan was recently captured by Azerbaijani defense forces, after mistakenly crossing the border between Azerbaijan and Karabakh. His Holiness has also requested for the mediation of His Holiness Kirill I, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, on the issue of the captive soldier.
