Washing of the Feet in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On March 29, Holy Thursday, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the Washing of the Feet Service was offered in the Mother Cathedral.
Following readings from the Holy Bible, His Holiness blessed the water and oil on the Altar, then under the singing of hymns, the Catholicos of All Armenians knelt on the bema before the Holy Altar, and washed and anointed the feet of twelve individuals.
Among the twelve chosen men were members of the Brotherhood of Mother See- His Eminence Archbishop Voskan Galpakyan and Dn. Davit Hunanyan, student of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary; students of the Faculty of Theology of Yerevan State University, Harutyun Hakobyan and Ara Avagyan; soldiers Tigran Tumanyan and Narek Piruzyan; Dr. Samvel Poghosyan; Eurnekian Public High school students Hakob Karapetyan and Ashot Melikyan; and children Hovhannes Khachatryan and Arshak Kelegyan.
At the conclusion of the service, His Holiness blessed the numerous Armenians in the Cathedral through the Protector Prayer, following which the deacons distributed the blessed oil to the attending faithful.
