Volunteer Defenders Union Day Celebrated in the Mother See
On May 12, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicso of All Armenians; a Special Prayer Service was held on the occasion of the Volunteer Defenders Union Day.
The attendees offered their prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of Armenia.
The prayer service was attended by Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan, Volunteer Defenders Union Chairman and Hero of Artsakh; Mr. Ara Babloyan, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia; National Assembly Deputies; Members of the Volunteer Defenders Union; representatives of regional councils and territorial departments and young Volunteers.
Before the Special Prayer Service, His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Head Chaplain of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, welcomed the attendees and congratulated them on the occasion of the Volunteer Defenders Union Day. He stated in part: “Years ago, in response to a request by the Volunteer Union, with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II; a beautiful tradition was launched to offer a united prayer on the occasion of the Volunteer Defenders Union Day under the arches of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
Today also, we have united in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to respect and honor the volunteers involved in the defense of the Homeland, pray for the tranquility and peace of the souls of the soldiers killed, as well as for the well-being of the survivors of the war”.
His Grace Bishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancellor of Mother See presided over the Special Prayer Service.
At the conclusion of the service, the Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed his blessings to the faithful, and praised the Almighty that thanks to the brave Armenian sons, the Homeland today lives in peace.
His Holiness noted that under these conditions of peace, the sacred and dedicated duty of each person is to make efforts for the development of the country, the progress of civil society, and the well-being of the people.
His Holiness wished that the Almighty Lord strengthens them in their service.
