The meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council Convened in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiatsin
On February 28, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council was convened in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer, following which under the chairmanship of the Catholicos of All Armenians; the SSC members, prayed for the peace and tranquility of the souls of the Armenians who died in the massacres carried out in Sumgait on February 27-29, 1988. Afterwards, the Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed his blessings and best wishes to the clergy and lay members of the Supreme Spiritual Council, wishing them an efficient work.
His Holiness also welcomed the new members of the SSC: His Eminence Archbishop Michael Ajapahyan, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak; His Grace Bishop Armash Nalbandyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Damascus; His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Primate of the Diocese of Artsakh; His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan, Primate of the Diocese of Gougark; Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America and Mr. Hayk Ignatyan.
The meeting's agenda includes national, church-administrative, canonical, disciplinary, conceptual and issues related to the effectiveness of the mission of the church. The subject of discussion will be the situation created in Armenia and Artsakh and the mission of the Church aimed at overcoming the existing challenges; organizational activities of the consecration of the Mother Cathedral, the Blessing of the Holy Muron service and other related events.
