The Meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council Concluded
From June 11 to 13, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the regular meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council (SSC) was convened in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Following the greeting and blessing of the Catholicos of All Armenians, the Patriarchal Delegate of Western Europe and representative of the Catholicos of All Armenians in the Vatican, His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Parsamyan and His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderyan, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, were invited to conduct the meeting
His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See and His Eminence Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin presented reports regarding the external threats facing the homeland and internal political developments
During the discussion, the Supreme Spiritual Council addressed with deep concern the internal political problems, security challenges and the incident of the disproportionate use of force by the police against the peaceful demonstrations in Yerevan on June 12. In this regard, the Central Committee issued a separate statement.
His Eminence Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and His Grace Bishop Moushegh Babayan, Head of the Administrative and Economic Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin presented reports on the progress of the Mother Cathedral's major repairs and re-consecration, as well as the organizational work of the Blessing of the Holy Muron ceremonies.
It was reported with satisfaction that the renovation of the Mother Cathedral is in the final stage. It was informed about the progress of the construction, publishing, ritualistic works carried out during the preparation stage of the re-consecration of the Mother Cathedral, the blessing ceremonies of Holy Muron and related events scheduled for September 27-29. It was also emphasized that inter-church delegations, famous and distinguished nationals are invited to participate in the aforementioned ceremonies.
The congregants, welcoming the implemented work, emphasized the proper organization of the planned ceremonies, which will give new hope and comfort to all our faithful people.
Various other issues related to church administration, the activity of the dioceses, canonical, legal, educational spheres were discussed during the meeting. It was decided to convene a Church-representative assembly in 2025 at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
The meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council concluded with the blessing and prayer of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
