The international conference entitled "Listening to the East: "Congregationalism in the Eastern Orthodox Churches"
From November 23 to 26, with the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the delegation of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in Rome participated in the inter-church conference organized by the PRO ORIENTE church foundation and the Institute of Inter-Church Studies of the Presbyterian University named after St. Thomas Aquinas, the slogan of which was "Listening to the East: Congregationalism (Synodism) in Eastern Orthodox Churches".
The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church was represented at the conference by His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamyan, representative of the Catholicos of All Armenians in Vatican; His Grace Bishop Armash Nalbandyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Damascus; Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Garegin Hambardzumyan, Director of the Mission Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin; Candidate of Theological Sciences Mrs. Diana Tsaghikyan and member of the "Faith and Order" Committee of the World Council of Churches, representative of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church Mrs. Ani Ghazaryan-Drisi.
The purpose of the Ecumenical Conference was to dialogue and reveal the ideas and experiences of the Eastern Orthodox Churches about synodism.
The event was also attended by Primates of the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, internationally recognized theologians, clergymen and youth delegates, who made presentations specifically addressing topics related to youth, women, laity and monasticism.
This international congress is an important contribution to getting to know the spiritual experience, achievements and challenges of the Eastern Orthodox Churches, as well as promoting the ecumenical dialogues.
