The Catholicos of All Armenians received the newly appointed Ambassador of India to Armenia 04.05.2023

On May 4, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Nilakshi Saha Sinha.

His Holiness Karekin II, congratulating the Ambassador on the occasion of her appointment, wished her a fruitful mission in Armenia. His Holiness emphasized with gratitude that the close cooperation of the two countries is due to the age-old friendship of the Armenian and Indian people, then he referred to the activities of the church structures in India, particularly the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy in Calcutta.. His Holiness, on behalf of the Ambassador, expressed his appreciation to the Indian authorities for the attention shown to the educational institution.

In turn, the newly appointed Ambassador, referring to the historical presence of Armenians in India and the Armenian-Indian relations and current cooperation, informed about her visit to the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy in Calcutta, noting that it is also a unique bridge in strengthening the cultural ties between the two countries.

During the conversation, a reference was made to the life of the Armenian community in India and the good condition of the Armenian churches. They also talked about the most serious security challenges facing Armenia and Artsakh, the problems of preserving the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan.
