The Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Newly Appointed Ambassador of Canada to Armenia 08.12.2023

On December 8, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Andrew Turner, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Armenia.

His Holiness Karekin II congratulated the Ambassador and wished him success in his mission, noting that the establishment of the Canadian Embassy in Armenia will contribute to the closeness and fruition of friendly relations between the two countries.

At the meeting, the Patriarch of All Armenians, on behalf of the Ambassador, expressed his appreciation to the Canadian authorities for the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as for the support shown towards our country and people.

His Holiness reflected on the issues of security facing Armenia, protection of fair rights of Armenians displaced from Artsakh, preservation of Artsakh's spiritual and cultural heritage, expressing hope that with the active support of the international community and friendly countries, our people will be able to overcome the difficult situation.

The Catholicos of All Armenians also spoke with satisfaction about the caring attitude shown by the Canadian authorities towards the Armenian community, noting that the Armenian community in Canada is an important bridge for strengthening the relations between the two countries.

The newly appointed Ambassador Andrew Turner, speaking about his mission in Armenia and the prospects for deepening and developing Armenian-Canadian cooperation, expressed his readiness to make every effort to overcome the challenges facing Armenia, the support of the forcibly displaced Artsakh Armenians and the establishment of peace in the region.
