The Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Mayor of Chisinau
On March 29, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the delegation led by the Mayor of Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) Mr. Ion Ceban in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians emphasized with gratitude that such visits bring their important contribution to the further strengthening of friendly ties and development of cooperation between the two countries.
His Eminence confirmed with gratitude that the children of the Armenian people, who settled in Moldova since the early Middle Ages, were able to organize their national and spiritual life, making an important contribution to the development of the country. The Armenian Patriarch noted that even today the small Armenian community of Moldova continues to record success in various fields, enjoying the kind attitude and care of the Moldovan authorities, as well as the Chisinau Municipality.
His Eminence also referred to the preservation of centuries-old Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage created in Moldova, the two churches currently operating, as well as the role of the Armenian Church in the preservation of Armenian identity.
In his turn, Mayor Ion Ceban informed the Armenian Patriarch about the goals of his visit to Armenia, the formed cooperation and the planned plans with the Yerevan Municipality. The mayor mentioned with satisfaction about the warm relations with the Armenian community.
During the conversation, they also talked about the current tense situation in the region, the security issues facing Armenia and Artsakh, the support of the international community, especially friendly countries, in establishing peace and stability was emphasized.
