The Catholicos of All Armenians received the Head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization of Iran 03.05.2024

On May 2, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the delegation led by Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization of Iran.

Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, was also present at the meeting.

His Holiness spoke with satisfaction about the relations and close cooperation between the two nations, which are manifested even today, in difficult times for our people. On this occasion, His Holiness expressed his concerns regarding the concessions imposed by Azerbaijan on Armenia and the ongoing encroachments on the sovereign territories, which hinder the processes of establishing a stable peace and security environment in the region. The Armenian Patriarch also spoke about the importance of protecting the just rights of Artsakh Armenians and the problems of preserving Artsakh's spiritual and cultural heritage.

Reflectiong on the activities carried out jointly by the Cultural Center of the Iranian Embassy with the Mother See, His Holiness noted the importance of the dialogue between cultures and religions, which contributes to the formation of solidarity between people and peaceful coexistence.

His Holiness Karekin II, on behalf of Mr. Mehdi Imanipour, expressed gratitude to the authorities of Iran for the support shown to Armenia, greatly appreciating the caring attitude towards the Armenian spiritual and cultural values and the Armenian community in Iran.

In turn, Mr. Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour presented the Armenian Patriarch the programs aimed at strengthening the educational and cultural ties between the two countries.

The head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization expressed confidence that the dialogue and cooperation between religions will be an important stimulus for the mutual recognition of nations, strengthening friendship and overcoming the challenges in the region.
