The Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Chairman of the Delegation of Jewish Organizations in Argentina 13.11.2023

On November 13, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Jorge Knoblowitz, President of the Delegation of Jewish Organizations in Argentina, and Ariel Blufstein, Head of Diplomatic Relations.

At the meeting, His Holiness, referring to the commonalities of the two peoples, emphasized that throughout history, the Armenian and Jewish peoples suffered a lot and were subjected to genocide, but thanks to their faith, they were able to withstand all kinds of trials.

Speaking about the challenges facing Armenia, the problems of forcibly displaced Artsakh Armenians and the ongoing bellicose policy of Azerbaijan, His Holiness noted that the created situation is the unfortunate consequence of the inadequate response of international institutions to the genocidal acts of Azerbaijan.

During the conversation, the Catholicos of All Armenians referred to the Holocaust, as well as the importance of recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by the international community, stressing that through this way it is possible to prevent the repetition of similar crimes in human life.

His Holiness referred to the conflicts in the region and the Middle East, noting that inter-religious dialogue is also important in resolving them and establishing peace.
Mr. Jorge Knoblowitz also emphasized the strengthening of faith in humanity and the dialogue of peaceful coexistence of religions in overcoming the difficult situation prevailing in the world and establishing justice. The head of the delegation informed His Holiness that both Argentina and the Jewish organizations of Argentina recognized the Armenian Genocide and condemned it, preserving the historical memory in order to prevent similar crimes in the future.

During the conversation, Mr. Knoblowitz also expressed his love and respect for the Armenian people, their historical past and rich culture.

At the meeting, a reference was made to the cooperation of the Armenian and Jewish communities in Argentina.
