The Catholicos of All Armenians Received Secretary of State for the Hungarian Aid and Support Program for Persecuted Christians
On October 20, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Tristan Azbey, Secretary of State of the "Hungarian Help and Support Program for Persecuted Christians" of Hungary.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Armenia Mrs. Anna Maria Shiko was also present at the meeting.
During the conversation, His Holiness expressed his appreciation for the support provided to Armenia and the depatriated Artsakh Armenians in these difficult days, and especially for the mediating efforts towards the return of Armenian captives of war.
The Armenian Patriarch referred to the preservation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh, the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced Artsakh Armenians, and the security issues of Armenia.
His Holiness also expressed his satisfaction regarding the support provided by Hungary to the Christian communities of the Middle East countries.
In turn, Mr. Tristan Azbey informed His Holiness about the support programs for the Christian communities of the Middle East countries, as well as about his direct involvement in the return of Armenian captives of war in 2021.
At the meeting, ideas were exchanged between the Armenian Church and Hungarian authorities regarding the prospects of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
