The Catholicos of All Armenians Received Members of the Families of the Fallen Servicemen in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
On June 22, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the members of the families of servicemen killed and captured as a result of the 44-day Artsakh war and encroachment on the sovereign territories of Armenia within the framework of the "Support to war-affected families" program implemented by the Armenian Round Table Foundation of the World Council of Churches (WCC).
At the beginning of the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians offered a prayer for the peace of the souls of the brave defenders of the country. Then Karen Nazaryan, Executive Director of the Armenian Round Table Foundation of the WCC, informed His Holiness that the Armenian Round Table Foundation, in cooperation with the clergymen of the Masyatsotn Diocese, provides material, moral and psychological support to families who lost their sons.
The program is planned to be implemented both in Ararat, Gegharkunik and Syunik regions, within the framework of which support will be provided to 50 families.
The Armenian Patriarch, expressing his condolences to the families of the fallen sons, paid his respects to the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the survival of the motherland. In this regard, the Armenian Patriarch mentioned that the example of the bravery of the heroic children will guide the Armenians to continue to own their country, to live freely and independently, with a brave spirit.
At the conclusion, in response to the questions of the family members of the fallen servicemen, His Holiness referred to the activities carried out by the Armenian Church towards finding military personnel missing in war and returning prisoners of war.
