Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On February 19, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Cardinal Claudio Gujerotti, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, who arrived in Armenia at the invitation of His Holiness the Patriarch.

During the conversation, His Holiness Karekin II recalled with satisfaction the years of the Cardinal’s service in Armenia as a Papal Nuncio and his warm attitude toward the Mother See. The Armenian Patriarch also expressed his appreciation to Cardinal Gujerotti for his contribution to Armenology.

The Armenian Patriarch spoke with satisfaction about the fraternal cooperation between the Armenian Apostolic and Roman Catholic Churches, then presented his concerns to Cardinal Gujerotti regarding the complex situation in the region and the security challenges facing Armenia.

Problems related to the life of Christian communities in the Middle East were also discussed at the meeting. The unification of the efforts of the Christian Churches in order to establish peace and solidarity in the life of humanity was highlighted.

At the conclusion, the Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed his fraternal best wishes to Pope Francis.
