The Catholicos of All Armenians Hosted the Members of the NPUA Student Council 15.07.2021

On July 15, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; hosted the members of the Student Council of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.         

During the meeting, the President of the Council Gevorg Harutyunyan, conveying his filial tribute to the Pontiff of All Armenians; expressed his gratitude for the reception of the NPUA students in Mother See; then reflected on the activity of the Student Council, particularly informing, that the Council has changed its strategy after the War of Artsakh and  implements programs aimed at providing assistance to the families of martyrs and the wounded servicemen, as well as military-patriotic education of the students. In this regard, the President of the Student Council highlighted the importance of the cooperation of the Council with the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Then, the Armenian Pontiff conveyed His warm greetings to the students, stating that their visit to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is a source of encouragement and joy.

Reflecting on the programs to be implemented during the holiday period; His Holiness praised the patriotic spirit of the youth; their zealous attitude to keep the memory of the Armenians martyred in the war alive; emphasizing that the generation guided by such a consciousness must be able to make the wishes of our people come true, to forge the safe and peaceful life of the homeland.

Speaking about the losses suffered by the Armenian people after the War of Artsakh, His Holiness urged the youth not to despair, not to retreat facing the challenges; but paying attention to their education, engaging in the work of patriotism with their knowledge and skills; thus immortalizing the memory of their fallen classmates, and becoming a source of encouragement and hope for many families who have experienced the bitterness of loss.

The Armenian Patriarch exhorted the youth to adhere to the Homeland, to the native land and the Holy Church; to adhere to the national and spiritual values through which the Armenian nation has always been strong and united; and it will be so in the future as well.

Then, the Catholicos of All Armenians answered the students' questions, which mainly concerned to the turbulent realities of the modern world, the preservation of the Christian image in the political developments, the trials of a spiritual life, and the position of the Armenian Church on various religious organizations.

In the conclusion, the Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed His Blessings and best wishes to the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, once again highlighting the importance of such meetings.

After the meeting, the members of the Student Council of NPUA visited the Museum of the Pontifical Residence.
