The Catholicos of All Armenians Had a Farewell Meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia 30.10.2023

On October 30, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness, Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Mr. Fukushima Masanori, who is completing his diplomatic mission in the Republic of Armenia.

His Holiness expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his mission in Armenia, highly appreciating the latter's efforts in favor of close interaction between the two countries and warm relations formed between the Mother See and the cultural institutions of Japan.

During the conversation, His Holiness also referred to the disastrous consequences of the Artsakh war, the challenges facing the depatriated Artsakh Armenians, the return of captives and the preservation of Artsakh's spiritual and cultural values, expressing confidence that the Armenian people with their optimistic spirit, strong faith, as well as friendly countries and the international community will overcome the existing trials with support.

At the meeting, His Holiness also expressed his gratitude for the support shown by Japan to Armenia in this difficult situation.

In turn, Ambassador Fukushima reflected on the impressions he received during his years of service in Armenia, highly appreciating the hospitality of the Armenian people and the uniqueness of the spiritual and cultural heritage.

The Japanese Ambassador also expressed his condolences and support to His Holiness regarding the victims of the Artsakh war and displaced Artsakh citizens.
