The Catholicos of All Armenians accepted the Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to RA
On February 16, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Greece to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Christos Sofianopoulos.
His Holiness Karekin II, welcoming the Ambassador, wished him a successful mission to further strengthen the relations between the two friendly countries. The Armenian Patriarch emphasized that the Armenian-Greek friendship comes from the depths of centuries and is anchored on the solid foundations of the Christian value system.
His Holiness also referred to the historical relations of the two nations and the heavy losses suffered. His Holiness noted that it is possible to face the existing challenges and trials by supporting each other and being strong.
At the meeting, Catholicos Karekin II spoke with satisfaction about the close cooperation of the Armenian and Greek communities in the Diaspora, as well as the warm relations between the Armenian Apostolic and Greek Orthodox Churches.
During the conversation, His Holiness referred to the problems facing Armenia and the forcibly displaced Armenians from Artsakh.
In his turn, Ambassador Christos Sofianopoulos assured His Holiness that he will invest maximum efforts in the direction of strengthening the Armenian-Greek cooperation, as well as preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh.
