Supreme Spiritual Council Welcomes the Armenian Genocide Resolution Adopted by U.S. House of Representatives
On October 30, during the ongoing Supreme Spiritual Council Meeting, being held in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; particular reference was made to the resolution on the Armenian Genocide adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives on October 29.
The Supreme Spiritual Council, welcoming the adoption of the resolution, viewed it as an important step in the context of restoring historical justice to the Armenian people and commemorating the memory of our sacred martyrs of the genocide.
On this occasion, the Supreme Spiritual Council members also expressed their appreciation to all the organizations and individuals whose tireless efforts made it possible to reach this important milestone in international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
Expressing the grateful feelings of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian Diaspora, the Supreme Spiritual Council expressed hope that the authorities and benevolent people of the United States of America will continue to make efforts with the same fairness for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and prevention of such atrocities around the world.
