Sunrise Service and Requiem Service Offered at the General Assembly of the Conference of European Churches
On 02 June, during the General Assembly of the Conference of European Churches in Novi Sad, Serbia, a Sunrise Service was offered in the Armenian rite. In attendance were the nearly 500 representatives from different churches and denominations. Delegation members of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, led by His Eminence Archbishop Viken Aykazian, as an observer from the USA National Council of Churches; and His Eminence Archbishop Yeznik Petrosyan, as a member of the Conference of European Churches, presided over the Sunrise Service. Very Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Ecumenical Department of the Mother See, delivered a sermon on Christian justice and presented his aspects to the attendees.
On 03 June, the official delegation of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin also offered a Requiem Service in the center of Novi Sad at the Armenian cross-stone (Khachkar) in memory of seven pilots, who perished in a plane crash rushing aid to Armenia during the Great Earthquake. The Requiem Service was attended by numerous participants and members of the General Assembly of the Conference of European Churches.
