Repose of Souls Service in Memory of Mr. John Kurkjian in the St. Gayane Monastery 15.10.2019

On October 14, in the St. Gayane Monastery, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; a requiem service was offered for the peace and tranquility of the soul of Mr. John Kurkjian, benefactor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Mr. George Kurkjian, who has always been clinged to the Armenian Church and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin with love and faithfulness, and zealous for  upbuilding of the national life, has been buried next to the graves of his parents – Sargis and Astghik Kurkjians, benefactors of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and his brother – George Kurkjian.

Since June of 2018, due to the donation of the departed John Kurkjian and the Kurkjian Family, the “Kurkjian” child support center has been operating next to the St. Gayane Monastery, where, 16 children who are socially vulnerable and without parental care, are now taken into care.

Present at the Requiem Service were the members of the Brotherhood of the Mother See and Kurkjian family.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; conveyed his Pontifical Blessings and remarks to the members of Kurkjian family.

“His death is a great loss for our Holy Church and people. During the preceding year, we felt the pain of his loss, as well as, we were consoled by his bright memory. During the last decades of our nation's and Church's history, both in difficult times and in cheerful moments, Dear John has repeatedly added prosperity to our national-ecclesiastical life in Armenia and throughout the Diaspora. For many years, John Kurkjian has been an active member of the Armenian community in London supporting the mission of the Church with his abundant capacities.  A number of projects, been implemented due to the generous donations of the Kurkjian family, today give their useful results becoming a blessing in many people's lives and keeping the benefactor family's  memory bright. Today, once again we have the chance to serve our heartfelt gratitude to God for the life of John Kurkijian and his efforts, as a loving husband, father, brother and uncle, whose memory will be Blessed forever.

...Completing his earthly mission Mr. John Kurkjian was passed into the eternity, where the Lord, according to His priceless promise, grants a blessedness of everlasting life to His faithful children. From the depths of our heart, We ask that Merciful God  keep the soul of John Kurkjian in peace in the heavenly heights and may the Almighty God grant the comfort to his wife – Mrs. Christina, his children, niece and relatives”, _ the Pontiff of All Armenians stated in part praying that God accepts the soul of the late Mr. John Kyurkjian with his beloved parents and brother in His Heavenly Kingdom.
