Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America Celebrates "Divine Liturgy of Oath"
On May 13, with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; His Grace Bishop Daniel Fintikyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, celebrated his first Episcopal "Divine Liturgy of Oath" in the St. Gayane Monastery.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by the Brotherhood of the Mother See and Armenian pilgrims from the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.
In his sermon, Bishop Daniel particularly stated that the Episcopal title is a great honor and at the same time an exceptional heavy responsibility to be the spiritual pastor of the clergyman serving in the Diocese and the shepherd of the flock Lord entrusted him.
Referring to the title of the clergy and the idea of being chosen by God, His Grace Bishop Daniel Fintikyan stressed that he will approve his choice by God every day and he must execute and realize the important title every day and every hour so that he can succeed in his God-given mission.
“However, dear faithful, I am not the only one who has a new title and I am not the only one chosen by God. Each one has a calling, each one is chosen by God, each one who has been baptized.
… And, of course, you must confirm this title with me and you have to accept the fact that you are chosen. You should remember every day, every hour, every second that you are chosen, that you have to follow the Lord, to inherit the promised goods that are in front of us”, stated Bishop Daniel.
Bishop Daniel also spoke about the dangers, stressing that the person will slip, and fall into sin if he forgets that he is chosen, his belonging to the Armenian Apostolic Hoy Church and being a child of God. “And what is sin, if not forget who we are, who we are as children of the Armenian Church, Christians who are consecrated with the Holy Chrism”, confirmed Bishop Daniel.
At the conclusion, Bishop Daniel urged the faithful to remain loyal to the title chosen by God. The pilgrims once again had the opportunity to congratulate Bishop Daniel on the occasion of the Episcopal ordination and consecration and receive his blessings.
