With the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the Publishing Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, on the occasion of the 1400th Anniversary of the Hripsime Monastery, has published the book “St. Hripsime Monastery” by Mr. Arsen Haroutyunian, candidate of historical science; and the bibliography of St. Hripsime Monastery prepared by Ms. Armenuhi Hovhannisyan.
In his first study, the author has made historiographic examination of the Hripsime Monastery. Along with the history of the sanctuary, the archeological excavations carried out around the monastery in different years have been presented, and as well as the revealed remarkable buildings and objects. On the basis of “History” by Agatangeghos, a reference is made to the behavioral testimony of St. Hripsime.
It also includes two compositions of Movses Khorenatsi: the original representing the history of St. Hripsime and her Companions and the ode dedicated to their memory. The second study is the first attempt to include a bibliography of any monastery-church in one book.
The book was published by the patronage of the Sarkis Gabrielyan Fund.
