Letter of Support from the German Evangelical Churches

Chairman of the Council of Evangelical Church in Germany Bishop Dr. Heinrich Bedford-Strohm sent a letter of support to His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
“I received the news from Nagorno-Karabakh about the new fighting and the lives lost with deep sadness. All our hopes and prayers are with you and every person that is threatened by the armed conflict.
We pray to God's Love and Mercy to preserve peace - or at least the ceasefire that lasted more than 25 years - and to prevent any step that leads further towards rekindling the terrible war.
… I mourn all the more the suffering of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh now.
With the voice of WCC lnterim Secretary Father Prof. Dr. loan Sauca the Christian Churches expressed their joint appealto all conflict parties to return to negotiations and to foreign countries to refrain from any form of interference that amplifies the hostilities. I consent wholeheartedly to this appeal, personally and in the name of the Evangelical Church in Germany. God bless you and your Church and protect you in this time of tribulation.”- is stated in the letter of the Chairman of the Council of Evangelical Church in Germany.
