Leaders of Canadian Churches in Holy Etchmiadzin
On August 25 the leaders of the most prominent Churches in Canada arrived in Armenia on the occasion of the 1600th Anniversary of the Creation of the Armenian Alphabet. The high-ranking church officials have come by the invitation of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and the initiative of His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada.
The delegation is comprised of His Eminence Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, Primate of the Anglican National Church of Canada; His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Canada; His Excellency Archbishop Brendan O?Brien, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and Professor Dr. Richard Schneider, President of the Canadian Council of Churches. They are accompanied by Bishop Bagrat during their visit.
From August 25 to September 1, the delegation will tour throughout Armenia, visiting various holy sites of pilgrimage and becoming familiar with the present day activities and mission of the Armenian Church in the homeland. The delegation will have the opportunity to meet with the Pontiff of All Armenians, the President of the National Assembly (Parliament) of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the National Academy of Sciences.
