International Committee Assembly of the Eastern Orthodox-Catholic Ecumenical Dialogue in Vatican
On January 27, at the invitation of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, the regular 16th Assembly of the International Committee of the Eastern Orthodox-Catholic Ecumenical Dialogue was launched in Vatican. According to the planned project the representatives of the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic Churches first met separately, in the format of church families, and later in the evening of January 27, the first plenary session of the 16th meeting of the Committee was held in Vatican.
The discussion topic was one of the seven sacraments of the Church- the Holy Matrimony, with its ritual, theological and canonical peculiarities.
Provided by the program, in the coming days the members of the International Theological Committee will discuss the ritual-theological and canonical common perception of the Holy Matrimony among the two church traditions, and as well as the differences and Ecclesiastical features.
The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church is represented in the International Committee by the following delegation: His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamyan (Pontifical delegate of Western Europe and the official representative of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vatican); Very Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan (Director of the Ecumenical Relations Department of the Mother See); His Grace Bishop Makar Ashkaryan (Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia) and Rev. Fr. Poghos Tinkjyan (Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia).
