Inter-Diocesan Youth Meeting in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
On January 23, an Inter-Diocesan representatives meeting of youth of the Armenian Church took place in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin under the presidency of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Diocese of Canada. Participating in the meeting were youth representatives appointed by diocesan bishops from throughout Armenia. Also present was a representative of the Armenian Church Youth Organization (ACYO) of the Western Diocese of North America.
The purpose of the meeting was to commence with the preparatory work for the upcoming Inaugural Pan-Armenian General Assembly for the ACYO. Participating in the General Assembly will be youth delegates from all dioceses of the world-wide Armenian Church. The Assembly is scheduled to convene in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in July 2003, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, to coincide with the 1,700th Anniversary of the Consecration of the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. Also discussed was the establishment of an office to become the headquarters for the International ACYO in Armenia
In conjunction with the Pan-Armenian ACYO General Assembly, a youth pilgrimage is being planned to allow the delegates to visit and worship in churches throughout Armenia and Artsakh.
