Independence Day Celebrated in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
On September 21, on the Eleventh Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia, a special "Service for the Good of the Republic" was conducted in the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, presided and officiated. During the service, His Holiness knelt down before the Holy Altar of Descent, and offered a prayer for the security, prosperity and steadfastness of the Republic of Armenia.
The same day, His Holiness and high-ranking clergymen from the Mother See visited the Yerablur National Cemetery and Memorial in Yerevan, where they offered a prayer of thanksgiving to God. Present were the President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharian; President of the Republic of Nagorno Karabagh, Arkady Ghukasian; Prime Minister of Armenia, Andranik Margarian; President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Armen Khatchatrian; Mayor of Yerevan, Robert Nazarian and other high-ranking dignitaries and guests.
