His Holiness Received the Newly Appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia 22.02.2023

On February 22, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Petr Piruncik, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Armenia in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The Armenian Patriarch, conveying his blessings to the Ambassador, wished him a fruitful and effective mission.

Noting with gratitude the close friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, His Holiness expressed hope that they will be ongoing and provide good results for both nations. The Armenian Patriarch emphasized that the Armenian community of the Czech Republic also makes an important contribution to the further strengthening of Armenian-Czech relations. On this occasion, Catholicos Karekin II, on behalf of the Ambassador, conveyed his appreciation to the Czech authorities and the Czech Catholic Church for their warm and caring attitude towards the Armenian community.

The newly appointed Ambassador Petr Piruncik, thanking for the good wishes, assured His Holiness that he will contribute to the further strengthening and development of the Armenian-Czech relations.

During the meeting a reflection was made on the current situation in the region, the security and ontological problems facing Armenia and Artsakh, and the steps to overcome the disastrous consequences of the war. In this regard, the Patriarch of All Armenians welcomed the efforts of international organizations and friendly countries to re-establish peace and stability in the region, emphasizing also the ongoing intermediary efforts for the return of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan.

In turn, Ambassador Piruncik confirmed that the Czech Republic supports the efforts of the European Union to establish peace in the region, and expressed readiness to support the return of the captives.
