His Holiness Karekin II Receives Speaker of the Senate of Poland

On October 28, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mr. Longin Pastusiak, Speaker of the Senate of Poland, and his delegation. Mr. Pastusiak is visiting Armenia on an official visit. President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Mr. Armen Khatchatrian, accompanied the group.
His Holiness received the honored guest in the Residence of the Catholicos, and expressed his satisfaction with the progression of relations between Armenia and Poland. His Holiness specifically noted the long history of friendship between the two peoples, and expressed his conviction that every international issue can find its resolution only through love and mutual understanding.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Mr. Pastusiak noted that he considered the role of the Church very important in establishing friendship among nations, and specifically mentioned the high esteem with which the Armenian Church is held in Poland. Mr. Pastusiak also expressed his appreciation for the Armenian Church?s well known and highly regarded ecumenical spirit that is recognized throughout Christendom.
At the request of the guests, His Holiness presented information regarding the current activities of the Church, the growth in the numbers of seminaries and students studying for the priesthood, and the status of church/state relations.
