His Holiness Karekin II Receives Rabbi Arthur Schneier
On February 19, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Rabbi Arthur Schneier, President of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, based in New York City, U.S.A. Rabbi Schneier was escorted by His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.
His Holiness welcomed Rabbi Schneier to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, noting that he was glad that the Rabbi was finally able to respond to the invitation which had been extended to him nearly one year ago.
Rabbi Schneier expressed his deep appreciation to His Holiness for the audience, and recalling their meeting in May of 2001, mentioned that he was grateful to at last fulfill his pledge and come to Armenia.
His Holiness had invited Rabbi Schneier to Armenia to participate in the 1,700 Anniversary Activities, which took place last September. Due to the terrorist attacks in the United States that same month, Rabbi Schneier had been unable to attend. Addressing the Rabbi, His Holiness stated, "We are glad that you were able to ultimately make this journey. Although we have ended our Jubilee Year, your visit gives us the opportunity to once again recall those days."
The Appeal of Conscience Foundation is a multi-denominational religious organization based in New York City, which sponsors conflict resolution programs.
