His Holiness Karekin II Receives Newly Appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria
On January 17, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mrs. Maria Pavlova Tsotsorkova-Kaymakchieva, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia.
Welcoming the first visit of the Ambassador to the spiritual center of the Armenians, His Holiness noted the warm and brotherly bonds that have existed between the countries for centuries. Additionally, His Holiness stated that the interactions between the Bulgarian and Armenian people were always marked by warm, friendly and cooperative relations.
Ambassador Tsotsorkova-Kaymakchieva reflected on the life of the Armenian community in Bulgaria and the active involvement of Armenians in the social, political and cultural life. The Ambassador stressed that the Armenian community serves as a unique bridge between Bulgaria and Armenia. She assured that during her tenure she would do everything to contribute to further the strengthening of cooperation and mutual relations between the two countries.
In response, His Holiness stressed that due to the friendly attitude of the Bulgarian authorities the Armenian communities in different cities of Bulgaria are able to live their national and spiritual life.
During the meeting, His Holiness recalled his Pontifical visit to Bulgaria, and referred to the fraternal relations between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness wished the Ambassador good luck in her mission and a successful term.
The meeting was also attended His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See.
