His Holiness Karekin II Receives New Ambassador of Italy

On July 1, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mr. Marco Clemente, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Armenia. The ambassador was accompanied by his wife during his inaugural visit to the Mother See of Armenian Church.

Congratulating the ambassador on his recent appointment, His Holiness wished him success in his endeavors, praying that his activities be fruitful and filled with contentment. His Holiness noted with joy that relations between Italy and Armenia have been developing at a brisk pace since independence, and most notably, that the Vatican and Holy Etchmiadzin share warm, fraternal ties.

Ambassador Clemente, noting that he has only been in Armenia for ten days, considered his visit to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin as one of his first priorities. He pledged to bring his assistance, wherever possible, to programs of the Armenian Church.
